NYOJ Officially Launches “Canada Dream Tour” with a Concert hosted by the Canadian High Commissioner

IMG_3207Under the distinguished Patronage of the High Commissioner of Canada to Jamaica, H.E. Robert Ready and the High Commissioner for Jamaica to Canada, H.E. Sheila Sealy Monteith, the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica (NYOJ) will be embarking on a “Canada Dream Tour” for Independence Day Celebrations in August.

The NYOJ is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that uses free classical music education as a tool to inspire, empower and enhance the lives of at-risk Jamaican youths.

The official launch of the “Canada Dream Tour” will take place at the Canadian High Commissioner’s Residence, 14 Seymour Avenue, Kingston 6, on Sunday, June 8th, at 5:00 pm.

Dream Tour: A Musical Evening” will include repertoire the ‘Dream Tour Orchestra’ will perform in Canada, and special performances by their talented instructors.  The music will range from classical composers such as Chevalier St. George to Jamaican Ska, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

This tour will be an unforgettable and transformational experience for twenty-five at-risk youths from eight different schools in Kingston, Jamaica.   The event on June 8th will highlight our sponsors and present the opportunity for audience members to speak with the NYOJ students in person, as their excitement surrounding the tour is simply infectious.

Tickets are available at Cannonball Café and Chronicles (Manor Park) and Tee Tree Creperie at a cost of  $1000 each.
